"RIBBON YOUR RIDE!" 2008-2009
This November 1-January 8 campaign is one of MADD's most visible and successful public awareness programs. Each annual campaign involves the nation-wide distribution of millions of red ribbons to encourage the general public not to drink and drive.
Tie a red ribbon on a motor vehicle to show respect for the thousands of Canadians who have lost their lives or who have been injured due to alcohol related crashes. Your red ribbon will remind people to drive sober through the holidays and throughout the year.
Project Red Ribbon is a commitment by Canadians to drive safe and sober. It is a highly visible, community public awareness program which utilizes volunteer participation in promotion of the message that impaired driving deaths and injuries are needless tragedies and totally preventable.
Each year, from the period of November 1st to the first Monday past January 1st, MADD Canada volunteers across the country ask motorists to tie a red ribbon to their vehicle. This project has quickly become MADD Canada's most widely known public awareness effort. Funds raised through donations during this program are vital to the continued growth and development at the local level!
When offered a Red Ribbon by a MADD Durham volunteer, please, give generously! If you would like additional information about Project Red Ribbon, please contact MADD Durham, 905.576.7473.
